No Game – No Beer!

Recently a reader wrote to me asking what I meant when I used the phrase, "no game". The expression applies to both craps and blackjack. It is a label that defines a situation to avoid. It has to do with the energy of the particular game.

In the casino, you can observe blackjack and craps games in action. There are cards and dice, dealers and players. It appears that there are games going on. However, a closer look is required to tell if there really is a game worth joining.

What I am talking about goes beyond the obvious three dimensions of cards and dice. There is another dimension behind the scene. Peering into the dimension of metaphysical energy shows hidden information. You may think of it as the HTML code of a web page. You do not see the hidden code, but the code makes it possible for you to see the page displayed. However, when you are able to peek at the HTML code you see all the information supporting what is going on with that particular page.

Take heart, peering into a metaphysical dimension is much easier to do than understanding HTML coding. In the first place, perceiving metaphysical information is a natural phenomenon for you. Where as understanding HTML code, lets not even go there!

It is from the dimension of metaphysics that you perceive the coding that provides the message of "no game". It comes from a feeling that happens as you "touch" into that energy. On a feeling level, your perception delivers a sensation that translates into a message of "not here, not now; there is no game". It is as simple as that. Your experience at the table is a sensation that is either encouraging you to play or its is telling you to walk away.

"No game" means the energy lacks a supporting or convincing feeling that you should invest in the game. It means that the conditions are uninviting. No two players will necessarily experience the same perception, yet, the feeling perceived translates the same "no game" message. Nothing about the game holds a glimmer of hope for a win. It is as if the table has a neon sign flashing a warning to stay away.

Just the other night, Beau "The Dice Coach" Parker called me. Our conversation turned to the energy of the game. Beau shared a story of taking one of his craps students on a casino session. They started at the Stardust casino. The tables were crowded and Beau suggested that they look for a game downtown. After visiting several casinos downtown, Beau still did not see a game that he liked. His next inspiration was to try the Green Valley Ranch casino. The student made a comment about spending so much time looking for a game instead of playing. At Green Valley, they had the choice of two tables. Beau told me that he chose the table that had "the energy". When Beau and his student colored up, they each left with a $450 profit.

Beau concluded his story with "that energy stuff works"! Yes, it does and I pointed out that what Beau and his student experienced earlier, was textbook "no game".

There is no way of knowing how the night would have been different had they played at the Stardust or downtown. I can only speculate and hypothesize from experience. Let’s say that instead of walking away from the game at the Stardust, that they played and lost $150 before getting the message. Then downtown they get themselves in another game or two with more losing results. Then they close out the night with the win at Green Valley, only now the profit looks like $85 dollars because of the earlier losses.

The student in Beau’s story is a lesson. Never be in too big a hurry to play. Being sensitive to the energy of a game and having the patience to find the best situation is worth the time and effort. It may have been the difference between $450 and nothing. Also, having the discipline to keep out of the "no game" situation is key. It is the reason I say, "you can win them all"! You win them all by keeping yourself out of the "no game" situations in the first place.

It takes some practice learning how to sense the metaphysical energy that provides you with information. The hard part is having the discipline to walk away. After all, you are there to play. The trick is to remember that you are not there to lose.

You do not have to settle for any ordinary game. When you create a thought form of "I only deserve the best"; you draw to you only the best. So, when you see less than you deserve, you simply do not accept it and you will have to move on searching for the game that you deserve.

One evening, on the strip, I checked out six our seven casinos. I could not find a game. The energy at each casino told me "no game". I had been at it for maybe a couple of hours. My last stop was at the Flamingo. I started to leave, deciding to call it night. I changed my mind for no other reason than right stick had opened on a table and I told myself that I would play one hand to see how I was rolling.

I bought in for $400 and the "Suit" came over to me. He introduced himself and asked if I had a rating card. I did not, and he asked me if I wanted one. I collect chips, dice, and now have a stack of rating cards as well. I do not care for the Flamingo, but I thought, "what the hell, another chip and a card for the collection".

So, I waited for my turn, and waited for my card. The cocktail server came by and asked if I cared for a drink. Figuring that I am only going to be there for my turn at bat, I say, "sure, I’ll have a Heineken". "Sorry sir", she replied, "we only serve…" I thanked her and declined the other offerings.

The thought of what had just transpired was distracting me from the game. What I wanted, I could not have. I was waiting for a rating card from a casino that would not provide me with what I wanted. It did not make any sense. Why would I want to be rated in a place that does not even serve the kind of beer that I prefer? Why would I ever come back to play? What the hell was I doing there anyway? Oh, yeah! I was waiting for the "Suit" to return my driver’s license.

Turns out, I rolled a short hand and no one before me and no one after me rolled anything of merit. I was right, in the first place. There was "no game". My problem was I got caught up in some other nonsense and it cost me 65 bucks and no beer! If it is going to cost me $65, I deserve to have the beer that I want. You do not have to settle for less than you deserve!

That my dear readers, is the lesson I preach and yet have to practice consistently. It was that temptation voice that whispered "go ahead and play", after I had identified "no game". The "no beer" experience was the confirmation. I knew it, I saw it, I ignored it and I paid for it.

Being in the right place at the right time and avoiding the "no game" scenario is a matter of perceiving the metaphysical energy of the game. It is just one of the reasons why Playing 4 Keeps™ works so well!
